I work for a medium-size real Estate office, Dawson Real Estate, located in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. I have been working as a Real Estate Agent for the past three (3) years. My mother, Sandra Dawson, is the Broker/Manager/ President of the company, which has been in existence for the past thirty years. We primarily service the South Coast of Massachusett, including the towns of Mattapoisett, Marion, Rochester, Fairhaven, Acushnet, New Bedford, Dartmouth, Westport, and Wareham.We have built our reputation over the last thirty years by working together with both Buyers and Sellers to help them either to Buy or Sell their home. What sets us apart from the competition (there's a lot of them out there, more than ever) is that we treat each customer, whether a buyer or seller, as an individual, not as a number. All customers receive personal; attention fgrom local agents who are familiar with the local area and present-day real estate conditions.

 

Prior to going into real estate, I was worked for seven years as a Junior High School Teacher, both in the Mattapoisett and New Bedford school systems. I have also taught overseas in Japan for four years, teaching English at local international schools, and also working as a English Teacher for Matsushita Corporation, which is the parent company of Panasonic.  

 

Many people have asked my why did I go to Japan. There are many answers to this question. First, I was a History and Political Science Major at Assumption College, where I received my B.A. in 1992, History is not just a subject in school to me, its also an interest of mine. I love to travel, and have visited 14 countries around world.. One of my good friends lived in Japan for nine years and I had the opportunity to visit him on two different occassions prior to moving there. I also wanted to use my background training to good use. In my mind, the opprtunity presented itself and I decided to go overseas.

 

After spending four years in Japan (Where I met my future wife, Miyuki) I decided that I wanted to return to live in the United States. I was give the opportunity to come work for my mother as a Real Estate Agent and decided that I was going to change careers at this point in my life.

 

Looking back after working in this field for the past three years, I think I made the right decision. I can proudly say that I am very happy right now in both my personal and life and career. II am the father of an eight month old son, Erick. I  sold only four houses my first year in the business (not bad for just starting out), but was the Top Producer in our office in 2006. I enjoy working with both Buyers and Sellers and believe that they are in good hands with an agent who wil work together with them in order to buy or sell a home that meets their needs. I am a trained Certified Buyer's Representative (CBR) and am close to finishing my GRI designation.
